Osteopathic Background

About Marc

I graduated as an osteopath in 1995 and have spent more than 30 years working in clinical practice in the UK and Canada.

My work has always centred on helping people understand their pain and movement, using hands-on treatment alongside clinical reasoning, education and practical advice.

I now practise in Victoria, BC, bringing together my experience in osteopathy with a modern, evidence-informed approach to pain and movement.

Qualifications

Where did you graduate?

The British School of Osteopathy in central London, England. I undertook a four-year full-time clinical osteopathic degree at the largest osteopathic outpatients clinic in Europe. I also have a Master’s degree with Distinction in Advanced Professional Practice (Clinical Sciences), specialising in pain and functional movement, from Bournemouth University and have lectured in anatomy and kinesiology.

Treatments

What type of approaches do you use?

Traditional structural osteopathic manipulation with an evidence-based approach to pain and movement. My initial approach was largely influenced by the historical British osteopath and physician Dr Alan Stoddard (1915 – 2002) who also looked to the evidence of his time. I do not use cranio-sacral techniques and if you are used to Canadian osteopathy, you will likely notice differences.

Professionalism
